2nd ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM

EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY OCTOBER 2008

WELCOME

 Message from the President

It is with pleasure that I invite you to the 2007-2008 academic year.  As president of the Michigan Association of Professors of Educational Administration (MAPEA), I am looking forward to a productive year as we strive to continue to prepare exceptional leaders for our schools.  We have a tremendous group of both new and experienced professors in MAPEA who are valuable resources to our members and organizations across Michigan.   I welcome your active involvement in MAPEA so that our organization can continue to make a difference in the preparation of our educational leaders of the future.

As the newly elected president of MAPEA, I would like to introduce you to our other board officers. The Vice-President is Caryn Wells from Oakland University and the Secretary/Treasurer is Gary Marx from Eastern Michigan University.  Our executive team is excited about serving you and welcomes your involvement and participation in our organization.  Each of the officers will serve a two year term from 2007-2009.

MAPEA will be involved in numerous initiatives throughout this year.  The first initiative that we are very proud to be part of is the Educational Leadership Research Symposium at Eastern Michigan University, which has been established through the exceptional leadership of Dr. Jackie Tracy and the coordinating team.  The symposium is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  In addition, MAPEA will continue to explore collaboration efforts with state organizations, working with the Michigan Department of Education on updated communication regarding state certification and accreditation, and providing resource support to our membership regarding best practices for training educational leaders.

We are pleased that you have visited the MAPEA website and hope that you find the information to be valuable.  We look forward to a productive year as we strive to be of maximum service to our membership and educational leaders throughout the state and nation.

Welcome to MAPEA,

John Shinsky
